Queensland Rail Contracted Speakout to research, develop and produce their new track safety campaign. This involved the Speakout Trainees conducting numerous surveys of their peers at train stations across Brisbane which were deemed as having the most inicidences of illegal track crossing and from these surveys such information as to why people would cross tracks, do they think about the consequences and what imagery might deter them from crossing in the future. The majority of feedback stated that they thought a graphic and shocking image showing the results of what might happen if you get hit by a train would be the best solution, so we took this on board and tried to balance this with the obvious sensitivities around the issue and the fact that these posters were to be displayed on train stations across the state and couldn't really be too gory. We took a metaphorical approach with the person about to cross the track but the shadow he's projecting showing the potential results of that cross tracking.
