OBJECT NOT FOUND

year:
1997 - present

Object Not found started out in 1997 as a small page within a website for the radio show I was operating at the time. It eventually grew as I found more "objects" and people started taking notice and donating photo's and postcards from around the world. The site is a museum of lost memories. It is in constant state of flux and as I write this I still have a box of found photographs from around the world (and spanning from early this century) to include on the site.
I never would have anticipated the response from people interested in the project. The site has won an msn.com pick of the week and a yahoo pick of the day who described it as "a dreamlike collection of anonymous letters, postcards, and photographs....poetic installation explores the ephemera of memory--collected photos, letters, and lists of unknown lives." which is a better way to describe it than I could ever do. It has also been reviewed in various magazines and on radio programs.

in 2005 a family found a photo album of their dead uncle on the site and contacted me and were able to be reunited with their family photos over ten years after having lost them. It's things like that which make the site worth doing. The website was recently redesigned using a content management system in order to allow users to submit their own photographs (and also make the many images on the site easier to manage). You can visit the site here
